- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs and buttermilk, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are fine!
- Gently fold in the diced apples and walnuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
