Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups apples (peeled and diced)
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth and glossy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ground cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined — do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly with a spatula. Optional: arrange a few extra thin apple slices on top for presentation.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter). The edges will be golden.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  9. Drizzle with additional salted caramel sauce before slicing into 16 squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For cleaner slices, refrigerate for 30 minutes before cutting and use a sharp knife wiped between cuts. Use firm apples for better texture.
