Description

A moist and fluffy chai cake infused with warm spices and topped with cinnamon cream cheese frosting, perfect for any celebration or cozy gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain a tender crumb.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  11. Gradually add the powdered sugar and ground cinnamon, mixing until well combined.
  12. Once the cakes are completely cool, spread frosting between the layers and on top of the cake.
  13. Decorate as desired and serve to your delighted guests!
