Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 sticks (1 cup / 227 g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 16 oz (454 g) chocolate melting wafers (for decorating)
  • Assorted special occasion sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and sea salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream the room-temperature butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy — about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in the mini semi-sweet chocolate chips by hand.
  6. Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown but centers still look slightly soft.
  8. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 3–5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Melt the chocolate melting wafers, dip each cooled cookie halfway into the melted chocolate, sprinkle with festive sprinkles, and let set on parchment.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before scooping. Use fine sea salt for better flavor.
