  • ⅔ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend the melted butter and sugar for about 1 minute until light and airy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Incorporate the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the sour cream, ensuring not to overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and sprinkle the top with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar for a lovely sweet crust.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
  8. Let the cake cool slightly in the pan before slicing and serving.
