- 2 tablespoons fresh minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 0.25 cup olive oil
- 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 2 pounds large shrimp (21–25 per pound), peeled and deveined
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together paprika, garlic, Italian seasoning, lemon juice, olive oil, black pepper, basil, and brown sugar until thoroughly blended.
- Stir in the shrimp, ensuring they are evenly coated with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, turning once.
- Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grate and position it about 4 inches from the heat source.
- Remove shrimp from the marinade and drain excess; discard marinade.
- Place shrimp on the preheated grill and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, turning once, until they are opaque in the center. Serve immediately.
Notes
Be mindful not to overmix your marinade, and watch for the shrimp to turn a beautiful pink color for understanding doneness.
