- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup hot honey
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: breadcrumbs, parsley
Instructions
- Begin by cooking the macaroni according to package instructions. Once al dente, drain and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, stirring continuously for about 1 minute until bubbly but not browned.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens and comes to a simmer.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until completely melted and smooth.
- Stir in the shredded chicken and hot honey until everything is well incorporated.
- Fold in the cooked macaroni and season with salt and pepper to taste. Make sure everything is evenly mixed without overdoing it to maintain texture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. If desired, top with breadcrumbs and additional cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
- Finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
Consider using a mix of cheeses for more complex flavors. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
