Description

Recreate the beloved fast-food experience of McDonald’s iconic French fries at home. Crispy exterior with a fluffy potato inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Water
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Cut the potatoes into fry shapes and soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Drain and rinse the potatoes, then soak them again in a mixture of water, vinegar, and sugar for another 30 minutes.
  3. Drain and pat the fries dry completely.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 300°F (150°C).
  5. Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5 minutes, then remove and let them cool.
  6. Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C) and fry the potatoes again until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Drain the fries on paper towels and sprinkle with salt. Serve hot.

Notes

Ensure the potatoes are thoroughly dried after soaking for maximum crispiness. Fry them in small batches to maintain the oil temperature.
