Description

A heartwarming dish featuring a blend of beef, sausage, beans, and pasta simmered to perfection for a cozy meal that warms the soul.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup small pasta (like ditalini or elbow)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, celery, carrots, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the kidney beans, cannellini beans, diced tomatoes (with their juices), tomato sauce, beef broth, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for about 30 minutes.
  5. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve hot topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

For deeper flavors, use bone broth or add a splash of red wine. Adjust the pasta cook time to maintain al dente texture.
