Description
A comforting dish featuring tender potatoes and flaky fish baked in a creamy sauce, topped with golden breadcrumbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 fish fillets (cod or tilapia)
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup cheese (parmesan or cheddar, grated)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- Fresh herbs like parsley or dill for garnish (optional)
- Additional spices, such as paprika or lemon zest (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Layer the thinly sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion until softened.
- Stir in the heavy cream, cheese, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layered potatoes.
- Nestle the fish fillets on top of the potato layer, then sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the top is beautifully golden brown.
Notes
Ensure the potatoes are evenly sliced for even cooking. Check the fish for doneness with a fork—if it flakes easily, it’s ready to enjoy!
