Description
A silky, creamy frosting made with sweetened condensed milk and butter, perfect for cakes and cupcakes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (306 g) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup (227 g / 2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter on medium-high speed until creamy and pale, about 2–3 minutes.
- With the mixer on low, slowly add the sweetened condensed milk in a thin stream, continuing to mix until well combined—about 1–2 minutes. Increase speed to medium and whip for another 2 minutes to aerate.
- Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, then mix until the frosting is smooth and fluffy, about 30–60 seconds. Scrape the bowl as needed.
- Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or sandwich cookies. If the buttercream seems too soft, chill for 10–15 minutes and re-whip briefly before piping.
Notes
This frosting can be stored at room temperature for short periods but should be refrigerated for long-term storage. It can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
