Description

A comforting dish of chicken breasts smothered in a creamy, cheesy sauce featuring sour cream, Parmesan, and mozzarella, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided (about 75 g)
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese (about 34 oz / 90115 g total)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish, season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, cornstarch, oregano, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
  4. Spread one slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each chicken breast.
  5. Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over each chicken breast and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake for about 60 minutes, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

To reduce fat, consider using low-fat sour cream or part-skim mozzarella. Chicken thighs can also be used but require adjusted cooking times.
