Description

A cozy dish combining tender turkey meatballs with a rich pumpkin sage sauce, perfect for autumn gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried sage)
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them evenly spaced on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the pumpkin puree, chicken broth, fresh sage, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Serve the baked meatballs atop the pumpkin sage sauce or on the side.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the meatball mixture to prevent toughness. Test for doneness using a meat thermometer; look for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
